This will be my second best X-Men movie after the second one and that is saying a lot. The return of Bryan Singer to the X-Men family was much welcome. It was a joy to watch the young and old characters together on the screen. It would have been very difficult to handle the time travel storyline but I think it was done very well in the movie. And the movie somehow connected all the previous films events together with little abnormalities but that is to be expected. You can never be perfect and these X-Men movies have just ignored that in the past. No blaming them here. Sir's Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen work so well in tandem and watching their characters converse after some time brought back old memories. The same is the case with young Erik and Charles played by the effervescent Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. Their chemistry works very well. Quicksilver makes a good cameo. However, his relationship with Magneto is not explored in this film. I thought he could have been in the final fight as well given how powerful he seemed in the scene he was put. The return to the 70's was a welcome change. I imagine Jennifer Lawrence's growing potential made her much more prominent in this film and I don't mind that. It worked great in the movie and made sense.
One thing I will say is that I don't get is how the new X-Men characters will play out now given that at the very end of the movie, we see only the old characters return (SPOILERS: Jean, Scott, old-Charles etc.). I think Jen Lawrence's character will make a return. But, does this mean the end of Fassbender-McAvoy pairing in the upcoming Apocalypse movie? Speaking of, I will admit I do not have a clue about the after-credits scene and I will check about that after this.
Enjoy the movie! I gotta feeling you will like it.
