Insomnia (2002) Review

I did not watch any new movie since the Guardians of the Galaxy so thought of catching up on some old ones. Just finished watching Insomnia after I read many suggestions online as it being Robin Williams's best roles. I also got interested because its been directed by one of favorite directors Christopher Nolan. The film is good. Robin Williams doesn't appear a whole lot in the movie yet is a big part of the storyline. The difference between this being different from other murder mystery movies I found was probably that the protagonist knows who the villain is almost from the start and then the film just explores the interaction between the two while the protagonist also is not displayed in white light always. He has his gray moments. Wonderful screenplay! Robin Williams indeed shines as the negative character who is convinced that he did nothing wrong. And those kinds of people are the most threatening. I also think he held his own alongside Al Pacino in this movie. Something's I did not understand was how Al Pacino's character manages to shoot his friend as we (the viewers) also saw that person wearing the same jacket as the killer. Perhaps, this was what Christopher Nolan wanted. For the audiences to experience the hallucination that the protagonist was having.

It will not be in my greatest movies list but still a very good movie to watch. Thumbs Up!
