There are some movies that will not achieve a lot of popularity because of small budget, being independent or any reason whatsoever. I recently saw two movie: Locke and The Double and both are great films. The Double is adapted from a book but the adaptation holds its own wonderfully. I thought the director, Richard Ayoade was primarily an actor but watching this movie, I am curious to also explore his other movies. Jesse Eisenberg, to me, plays the perfect double roles who are exactly alike in looks but so different in traits. He captures all those nuances. Although in some scenes, you do get the Social Network feel. Still, its great. Mia Wasikowska has made some good movie choices and I have liked her acting in other films as well. Even the not so good, Alice in Wonderland movie.
Locke is film making at its best. Imagine it to be like Gravity but instead of a wide wide space and two actors, this one just has a car as the environment and one actor. And, Tom Hardy is already a really good actor. He just dissolves into and becomes Ivan Locke, a simple man who has worked hard for his life but one mistake is proving to bring all of that down. Steven Knight is another director added to my list of ones to watch out for. The film is spectacular. But I will also know not all audiences will like it.
But, try to enjoy if you can.
