Godfather Movie Review

Ok people. Please don't hate me. I watched Godfather I the very first time a few days back and it is indeed an excellent crime drama. I am beginning to get interested in watching old Hollywood films that take me back to that period. Some of the best actors of that time seem to be in Godfather and I am not complaining. Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and a young Al Pacino. Brando's Don Vito was so over the screen and excellent that subconsciously, I found myself imitating him while watching the movie. This is also the very first movie I watched directed by Francis Ford Coppola and now I know why he is considered as one of the best directors in Hollywood. Al Pacino had a great arc throughout the movie from a ex-marine who is reluctant to be any part of his father's gangster empire to ultimately inheriting and embracing it in a ruthless fashion. I thought the movie was slow at the beginning and that could be because of the films I see today (all fast and action packed and quick to the plot) but it is for sure a film that looks to have inspired so many movies at least in the gangster genre. The Godfather theme music is also great and that line "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse".

Next up for me is the other two parts in the trilogy.

Side Note: I will slowly also begin watching the foreign language films to understand movies from around the world.
