I do not watch a lot of animated movies. Anyone reading this blog would know that I watched Toy Story only recently. So, my gauge for best animated movies comprises of a relatively small bucket. Inside would be in my top 5 of those movies. Whether it's the best one is still up for debate in my mind. This movie will pull your heart strings I am sure about it. Both Joy and Sadness came out of
the screen into my brain for it to experience both of those emotions. Pixar has made a very clever movie which would appeal not only to kids but to adults as well. I am not sure if they think about this sort of thing while making a movie. It seems like so when you watch some of their movies. But while watching Inside Out, you feel they actually pour their all their mind and heart into it. It seemed they were actually felt something during the making. Coming to the story, the movie tells the journey of a young girl called Riley from her infancy to approaching puberty. As she is born and grows, the emotions within her start to form and take shape as well. Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) are those emotions voiced expertly by each of those actors although, Joy and Sadness are the focal points where in lies one negative for me. I wanted to see more of other emotions as well as I really enjoyed all of them. The movie is very powerful in the sense it made me think about my life in terms of those emotions. I can see kids having the same or more strong effect which is a good thing, I think.
I am thinking of adding a line about the one scene that really moved me as a viewer in each movie I watch. So here goes for Inside Out (SPOILERS):
It was the one when Riley almost lost all her emotions and felt nothing and was about to leave her parents. That scene got me.
Overall Review: Still Up, Ratatouille, Toy Story are competing with this but Inside Out goes right up there in the upper echelon.
