Twenty two years later and we finally have a movie that is a true successor to the first Jurassic Park. It's not like I hate the other two movies, I just don't like them and they are not easily remembered by me. The iconic John Williams theme also returned and I think they used it in the measured amount. Or even if they used it in the middle, I was involved in the movie enough to not notice which I think is a sign that the film was engaging and fun which after all is the point of movies. I forgot to get popcorn bucket for this as I am sure I would have enjoyed chumping on that. Both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard did a good job in keeping the story moving and the two kids were great as well. I am glad there was a just a little tease in the reveal of the baddy dinosaur as we get straight into the action unlike the new Godzilla. I was happy that an Indian actor (Irfan Khan) was a part of another good Hollywood movie. It's nice for personal reasons. Coming to the story, engineers at Hammond (a nice reference to the original film) create a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur combining every animal possible called the Indominus Rex and things take a wrong turn. Yes, the plot is something you already know but it did not take me away from the movie. Chris Pratt training the velociraptor was not overdone and it looked believable on screen. Especially after having watched youtube videos of some people making friends with a lion. And guess who saves the day in the end. (SPOILERS), the original T-Rex returns with the help of the velociraptors and another crocodile-whale hybrid, the Mosasaurus. Some negatives for me were the loud background sound in some scenes. I did not get invested in Vincent D'onofrio's character (as much as I loved him in Daredevil) as well who seemed too cliched. Also I am not sure if people can actually run faster than a dinosaur but that one can be ignored considering that was done in first film as well.) I am sure you can probably find a lot of other plot holes or corny predictable dialogues and scnene but this is still an enjoyable film to watch, much better than I enjoyed the last Terminator. Kudos to director Colin Trevorrow who had small budget indie film experience before albeit one of those movies I have watched and liked (Safety Not Guaranteed).
