Tomorrowland is the sci-fi mystery story of a young science enthusiast girl, Casey (Britt Robertson) who is tasked to save today's world from impending doom with the help of a robot, oops I mean an audio animatronic robot (Raffey Cassidy) and a genius scientist (George Clooney). Although the film's intentions are noble and something everyone can learn from, I felt they were portrayed haphazardly. Being a technology enthusiast, I enjoyed the grand ideas of science helping to save the world and dreamers being the one who are capable of doing it. But, translation of this thought into a story that flows never happened. As an example, I did not actually get the feeling the world was going to collapse.
The visual effects are stunning and I saw this movie on a small screen. And I feel director Brad Bird might have missed a great opportunity to mix this with a great story because this film had so much potential. This is not his best movie by far especially if you have watched Ghost Protocol and Incredibles. The best performance from this movie came out of the young Raffey Cassidy who was brilliant in my opinion. Her interaction as a robot and as a character with both Britt and George was great. I look forward to watching her in future movies.
If you are a science guy or girl, you can check it out but this movie is not something everyone will enjoy.
