Terminator: Genisys Movie Review

I am not too familiar with the Terminator mythos and never got into learning about it. I have watched all but one of these these movies because I love sci-fi action films. James Cameron did a wonderful job in the first two and I remember liking the third one as well. I did not enjoy the fourth one and this fifth installment might fall into the same category. Unlike true fans, I never had high expectations from the movie from the start and to be honest, the movie even fell short of those.

None of the actors impressed me apart from Arnold and considering the talent this movie had, it all seems highly unlikely to happen. I did not buy Jai Courtney as the lead, Kyle Reese.
The bad storytelling did not help their cause either. The movie had no arc in my opinion. The flow and pace bumped into the rocks of bad direction.  The moments of great action was succeeded by a screeching halt of a emotional moment and vice versa. The special effects were amazing to watch but it never was seamlessly integrated into the plot. Some movies can do a great job of explaining stories even to a new-to-the-franchise viewer and I got the feeling Genisys did not achieve that.

Coming to little positives, as I said before, Arnold was the best part of this movie. I found myself laughing and smiling every time he appeared on screen. It is a testament to how much he has improved as an actor even at his age.
