Bridge of Spies Movie Review

I will say it right at the start. This is not Steven Spielberg's finest film and I can definitely think of few movies that could have taken its place at the Best Film category at the Oscars (from the ones I have seen Creed for example). With that aside, this is still a good movie and you cannot expect less from Steven. In fact, its only the star power of Tom Hanks and Steven and a certain Mark Rylance that carry this throughout.

Bridge of Spies is a true story about an American insurance lawyer J. Donovan (Tom Hanks) who is tasked to negotiate a foreseen exchange deal between captured American and Russian spy during the height of the arms race between the two powers. The story itself is not something to write home about and sometimes felt overly dramatic with little to suggest that outcome. Mark Rylance was amazing with his non fearing portrayal of Russian spy Rudolf Abel. He was calm against all odds which makes the original character such an interesting one. I liked his performance the best even above Tom Hanks's who is always great.

Overall a solid movie but not the best.
