Starting off on a good note, I liked watching all the amazing Marvel heroes back together on the big screen. I still get giddy at being able to see all these superheroes (from all universes) on the big screen and I will never get tired of it. The Marvel department has done a wonderful job with each of their actors who have come to embody their onscreen superhero persona excellently. All actors, from old folks like Robert Downey Jr. to Chris Evans to Tom Holland's Spiderman and Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther fit their characters to the tee. Their interaction is a sight. Tony Stark and Peter Parker's chemistry stood out for me. Some of the tiny nods to comics with Vision and Scarlet Witch's interaction was good on the film maker's part as well. Another positive is the exploration of the vulnerabilities faced by the characters in addition to their superhuman abilities. The comedy never felt shoved in your face and fitted in with the story. Oh and the best part is the fight choreography which is synchronized to such perfection. It should be a treat for both action and comic book fans. Since the first Iron Man, I have liked the evolution of Tony as a person and a superhero. This also comes out to be a negative as Tony's life path is so intriguing, it overwhelms most (if not all) other superheroes in the MCU. Oh, I think they did well to point out Aunt May's attractiveness in the movie. I agree completely. :)
On to the negatives, I know I said I liked Spiderman but his role in the movie didn't fit the story very well. He was good as an entity but I did not understand why Tony had to travel all the way to Queens to hire him for one fight especially since he is a kid. The first half of the movie until the airport scene was based on Civil War but later the conflict was due to personal family reasons and it felt like two different movies even though those reasons arose due to Cap's inability to ignore Bucky's actions. I just felt it could have been tied to the "Civil War" plot better. The directors, however, did a good job of building up tension between the two from before. And finally, considering the scale of the movie, the music wasn't memorable. I have listened to it again on Spotify and it hasn't appealed to me so far. Alan Silvestri's is still my best music for the MCU. Oh one other thing, I would have liked if someone got killed off in the movie making the stakes higher matching the title of the movie even more justified. And finally, the villain wasn't fearsome as is usually the case with Marvel movies (apart from Loki). On second thoughts, I do think it could have been Marvel's intention to focus more on the heroes fighting each other.
Overall, this is my third favorite Marvel movie after Winter Soldier and Avengers but worth watching in theaters and as you might have been told, in IMAX.
