Eddie The Eagle Review

Now this is a movie I can watch anytime. Eddie The Eagle is a fantastic true story about Michael "Eddie" Edwards, a British Olympian who is never deemed apt to compete in the Olympics until he proved the doubters wrong and he kept doing so again and again.

This is such a great feel good movie and there was not a single moment I did not have a smile on my face or my heart. It is always hard to bring the real life story and emotion onto the big screen but the director, Dexter Fletcher, does so wonderfully and I would also like to mention the cinematographer for capturing excellent shots throughout the movie. The end of the movie did feel a bit dramatic as I am not sure if that really happened. I am really sorry for being so nitpicky about such a wonderful film. I swear that will be my only negative.

Taron Egerton plays Eddie the Eagle and he is turning out to be an amazing actor. He was charming, innocent and brings Eddie to life so well, you want to be like him. I saw some Youtube videos of the actual Eddie and Taron nails down his body movements and traits so well. His chemistry with his coach Bronson Peary (Hugh Jackman) is great. Honestly, this movie is one of the best of the year for me so far. It just inspires you to be honest, humble, satisfied and to always believe in yourself and never give up. There will always be hurdles like the annoying British Olympic Committee (I despise them in the movie) but one must carry on. And the great thing about the movie is that it never bangs you over the head with these as well.

What a wonderful movie. Go watch it.
