The prequel and sequel to 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman does not quite improve on its predecessor (not that the first one was a great movie) but I did have some fun with this one especially when Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are on screen. This movie tries to tell the story of Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and the other huntsmen primarily of his love interest Sara's (Jessica Chastain) while also telling that of the two sisters, the evil queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) and Freya (Emily Blunt). This is what the movie gets bad for me. There are lot of characters trying for their attention with non given enough depth and time for audience to work them out. I also somehow could not get used to Chris's and especially Jessica's accent and personally it kept me from enjoying the film.
This was director's Cedric Nicolas-Troyan debut having been a second-unit director on the previous film and it was an ok one in my opinion. Perhaps he might have been better off starting with a small scale film to expand his creative wings. The best thing about the movie apart from Charlize and Emily were some of the shots that I appreciated a lot. Kudos to Phedon Papamichael for that.
Overall, not a very exciting movie but not as bad for me as some of the reviews might suggest. I certainly had fun with it.
