Dean Israelite directs this movie in a modern re telling of the Power Rangers while still keeping the old flavor and color for the most parts. This could have gotten way out of hand and did at some points in the movie especially with Elizabeth Bank's Rita Repulsa and some of the dialogues in the movie but the cheesy action and random comedy kept me entertained. It is fair to say the script is not the strong point of the film. There were conflicting actions taken by some characters as if they forgot what had happened to them in the early half of the film. But as I walked in the theater, I knew what I was putting myself into.
The best part about the movie was some of the acting by most of the young actors especially Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler and Dacre Montgomery especially during the first half. I was not thrilled with the yellow and black ranger backstories. I also liked the costumes which were improved but were still vibrant with colors. The formation of Megazord and the morphin time brought back memories and no one can take that away from me.
I think the fans of Power Rangers will love the film and it is a fun time at the theaters.
