This movie is a spin off from the original 2014 3D computer animated The Lego Movie and could be one of those which is as enjoyable as the first. The writers and directors of the original, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, serve as producers this time and Seth Grahame-Smith (story), Chris Mckay (director) take the lead which does not take away from the fun levels at all. It shouldn't have been a doubt that combining one of the most successful toy brand with one of the most popular comic book superhero was a great idea but still big credits to the film's team for making it work.
The movie features Batman trying to come to terms with his lonely life and figuring out towards the end on why he needs a family consisting of both his friends and also villains. And there are villains in this movie dig up from the deep dark dungeons of Batman's long comic book history that not many would have heard of like Clayface, Orca alongwith of course the major ones like Joker, Penguin, Riddler. Being a Lego franchise also has the previlege of including other villains like Lord Voldemort (voiced surprisingly by Eddie Izzard and not by Ralph Fiennes) and Wicked Witch. The music was spectacularly awesome (Lorne Balfe).
This movie is constant fun right from Batman's commentary over the opening credits and this continues throughout. The one negative I did find was the stop start that happened a few times after a big fight scene. I feel the movie could have been a little shorter if a major fights was condensed to one scene towards the end. But if you were to say that I need to watch the film again today, I will do it in a heartbeat.
