Life Review

Life is a sci-fi horror drama about a group of space explorers who bring in an alien life form aboard the International Space Station only for things to turn horribly against them as they try to bring it to life.

I liked this movie and had fun throughout its run time. The director Daniel Espinosa provides amazing shots and imagery in the film and uses the environment well to build tension which is a must for telling such a story. The best part was the actors who poured everything into their respective characters.  Rebecca Ferguson continues to impress after her stellar performance in the last Mission Impossible movie. Ariyon Bakare is also a stand out and this was the first time I have ever seen him in a film. The story gradually progresses in its intensity although there are few moments where I questioned the decision of a crew member in tense situations and it annoyed me but the acting performance pulled me back. It felt to me that the film was trying to raise some deep philosophical questions but instead it turned into a action horror which I was okay with. Just as a comparison, Interstellar, a movie which delves into far more theoretical concepts, got me thinking more after the movie.

The ending of the movie was something that I didn't enjoy and this was once again where it felt like the director was trying to include in a new genre into the film.

Overall, I had fun
