Lady Bird is a comedy drama about the relationship with a mom and her teenage daughter, Christine who calls herself "Lady Bird" . Both are strong personalities and so their opinions clash a lot but it never reaches an unbearable level and is just perfect to bring the emotion and the comedy to the screen. I do not say comedy lightly as I did not expect the movie to be so funny. Saoirse Ronan does an amazing job with her dialed down acting and appearing as a simple and complex as a teenager in real life can be. Saoirse is one of my favorite actresses after I saw her first in Hannah and then in Brooklyn. She continues to impress here. Laurie Metcalf plays Lady Bird's mother to perfection. And it is a credit to the director Greta Gerwig that she manages to make a movie with people calling a teenage girl "Lady Bird" and being sincere about it and it does not appear weird or awkward. The only awkward moments are the ones where life itself is awkward. The movie starts and ends in an abrupt way as well and that technique is used throughout the movie which was very interesting to watch and added to my positive experience.
There are some moments which annoyed me and I can understand that it would not for people living in US as I myself have not experienced it being from a different culture and country.
The story also reminded me of Boyhood but told from a girl's perspective which is a good thing cause I really liked Boyhood as well.
