Ready Player One Review

I was really excited for this one and although it did not live to all my expectations I was still entertained. This is an adaptation of a popular novel by the same name (which I am reading right now) where Wade Watts works with his team "High-Fives" including Olivia Cooke (who I like) and tries to find an easter egg which is left behind by the creator of a virtual reality game called OASIS before a big "evil" company run by Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn)  can do so.

Although I did not think this Steven Spielberg movie was great, I still had fun watching it on the big screen. Steven has a unique way of shooting and I loved how he got some of his shots including Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) putting on the VR glasses on his face for the first time and "The Shining" scene which was brilliantly shot. Kudos also to all the visual effects artists and the cinematographer, Janusz Kamiński. I did not feel like I was taken away from the movie when the shots shifted between real and the virtual world. The music from Alan Silvestri as always was wonderful. From the side characters, I had fun watching i-R0k voiced by TJ Miller and Mark Rylance is one of my favorite actors. He portrayed the role of James Halliday very well (although it was sort of a cliché nerd role)

I would have liked the references to have stayed for a longer time on screen (except for the Shining) for me to enjoy them even more. I also thought some of the scenes were cheesy.
