It's been a while. I saw Ocean's Eight a few weeks ago, but just have been lazy to ink my review on here.I had fun watching this film although admittedly I didn't have much expectations going in. There is certainly some homages to the old Ocean movies in terms of camera shots and cinematography and music choices and they are fun to watch. Gary Ross however manages to still make this movie be the story of its characters and not rely on the old ones. Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett carry this movie through with excellent help from all of its other main cast including Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson and Awkwafina. Also, Cate Blanchett is just awesome. I was also pleasantly surprised by a plot twist towards the end which I did not see coming at all. It's always good when a big Hollywood summer movie can surprise you, no matter how small it is especially in today's age of reboots and remakes.
This movie is mostly to be seen because of all the great actresses on the screen and their chemistry with each other which works perfectly. The scale of it though still felt less than the original movie and I would like to have enjoyed a few more laughs but other than that, its a good watch.
