Aquaman Review

James Wan directs this jumbled up superhero origin story of Arthur Curry aka the Aquaman and I had fun watching this movie.

Don't get me wrong. There are a few annoying things about the film primarily the one of the villain's (Black Manta) moustache twirling expressions and the repetitions of some action sequences like the sudden explosions happening in the middle of a conversation. The story wasn't focused on a lot of character building for all the major characters but I was entertained enough by the spectacle to not worry too much about it. The soundtrack was not a memorable part as much, not like the epic ones I remember from Man of Steel or Wonder Woman. Also, the music was weirdly placed at certain points which took me slightly away from the story arc going on.

The action sequences were excellently shot and I enjoyed all the unique ways James directed those scenes. The underwater scenes were also enjoyable. I thought Mera (Amber Heard) stole the show in terms of action. She had the "coolest"power. I liked how the voice felt different under water for the sea creatures than at the ground level. It was clear enough but not overly loud to convince me of the surroundings the plot was operating in.
