The Lego Movie 2 : The Second Part Review

The sequel to the Lego Movie (and the fourth in Lego franchise) is not as entertaining as the first one but is still a fun watch. I will say, the songs in this movie (no matter how literally they sing them) will never compare to "Everything is awesome" to me!

Phil Lord and Chris Miller take over just the writing duties for this one and hand over the direction to Mike Mitchell. The primary voice cast is the same with Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks once again doing an amazing job as Emmet and Lucy respectively. Chris Pratt also voices a future version of himself who basically feels like a fun reminder of all his previous movie roles. As expected, there are a lot of cameos and they are really funny. The movie does well to integrate the latest from WB pop culture. Jason Momoa's "my man" never gets old.

The story is less interesting than the first one and the song and dance sequences got a little too much for me so I think the movie could have been short by a few minutes but overall I still enjoyed and laughed at various moments throughout.

Oh, forgot to mention, Tiffany Haddish as Queen Whatevra-Wanabi is awesome in every scene she is in and her interactions with Will Arnett's Batman are a delight.
